Vintage Postcard: The Lions Gate Bridge
The Lions Gate Bridge connects Vancouver to North Vancouver. This vintage postcard is probably from the 1950s given the car in the foreground.
The postcard shows two stone lions flanking the bridge as if standing guard.
The Lions Gate Bridge is not much older than the postcard. The bridge first opened in 1938 and has an interesting history.
While the bridge has seen updates over the years, the biggest difference from the 1950s to today is the level of traffic. Still, traffic in Vancouver is not that bad compared to other major cities - this can be attested to by the fact that the city has frequently earned top place in "best cities to live in" surveys.
