What you say to a bear matters!

Read 4 Things Not to Say to a Black Bear on Jasper National Park Journal, a website about a park in Alberta, Canada, a day's drive from Vancouver.

The Baddest Car to Ever Drive in Vancouver

By DH Wall - Posted on November 10, 2007 at 3:14 pm

I spotted this car one day while driving through the Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver, near the beach. A classic Chrysler. It looks like a 1946 or 1947 Chrysler Town and Country woody.

Whatever it is, it has to be the baddest car to ever drive the streets of Vancouver. If Chuck Norris needed to drive a car this would be his car. Though we all know Chuck Norris doesn't drive because he is already everywhere.

Here's some detailed pictures. You need to see this thing up close to appreciate it.

Stanley Park Coyotes and Raccoons are Evil Minnions of Hell

By DH Wall - Posted on October 9, 2007 at 10:37 am

Beware of the coyotes and racoons in Vancouver's Stanley Park. Don't believe me? I took pictures of warning signs.

"Coyotes are wild animals and can be dangerous. Do not encourage them to approach. They are smart, fast and will take what they can get."

"Keep them at a distance!...Never feed coyotes!"

I had heard that coyotes could be dangerous but this sign puts things in perspective - they are smart and fast too. Even scarier is that coyotes "will take what they can get." What does this mean? I can only speculate that the people who created this sign were under attack by coyotes and did not have time to fill in the details. My guess:

How to deal with bears

By DH Wall - Posted on September 17, 2007 at 1:07 am

Here's a visual guide to dealing with bears in Vancouver:

  1. Give the bear some back bacon.
  2. The bear will yell at you and make you scream.
  3. The bears will get tired from yelling and then lie on the ground, passed out in front of mounties with rifles.
Lesson learned: Do not give bears back bacon. It tires them.
