Getting From Seattle to Vancouver By Rental Car

By DH Wall - Posted on November 22, 2007 at 5:26 am

A lot of people go to Seattle and then drive to Vancouver.

Getting from Seattle to Vancouver is not hard by car.  It takes around 3 hours but that can vary greatly depending on speed, traffic, breaks and the border US/Canada crossing.

This is what the drive looks like from Seattle to Vancouver (picture of a map at a rest area).

Expect to stop at a rest stop or two.

Americans are allowed to take a rented car from US to Canada.  However, there's some law that prevents Canadian from doing the same thing, I think.  Check with your rental car agency.  The border crossing can be quick and it can be really slow.  I got through in 30 minutes.  Hit it during peak times and you may spend up to 2 hours getting through.

After that, look for the Vancouver signs.
